Position Details
Lead Power Conversion Engineer

Offer type: full time
Salary: DOE
Location: Virginia


The Ideal Candidate

5+ to 7 years of experience
Management Experience Required - No
Minimum Education - Master's Degree

Willingness to Travel - Occasionally

Internal The Lead Power Conversion Engineer will provide domain expertise in static starter power conversion 
and Power Electronics to product development team - Member of multi-disciplinary engineering development
team that includes System Engineering, Power Conversion Design, Mechanical Design, PWA Design, 
Software Design, and Integration / Test. 
Internal Master's degree in Electrical Engineering 
Minimum 3 years experience with simulation tools, Dynamic system simulators (Saber, MATLAB) 
Circuit simulation (Saber, SPICE) Power electronic device modeling (Saber) and Electro-thermal 
modeling of power devices 
Minimum 3 years experience with power system protection and coordination - Short circuit and
fault calculations and ratings & protection of power devices
Experience with design, selection, and specification of critical power components. 
Demonstrated experience with Instrumentation and measurement of power converters 
Exhibits Lab safety practices 
Proven experience in successfully working with bridges modulators and bridge control methodologies - 
Phase-controlled line commutated (6/12 pulse SCR bridges), PWM source behavior IGBT power bridge design, 
GTO / IGCT power bridge design 

Experience with design for six-sigma, design for reliability, design for manufacturability and design to cost.
